Instructions From Yoga Class

So, we begin with a gentle stretch, rolling on the back, bringing our knees to our chest, and paying attention to our bodies, not asking too much, and just have a gentle roll…

Next positioning ourselves onto our knees, with our hands beneath our shoulders, elbows elongated, pressing our hands into the mat, for a strong table top pose, pressing our knees into the ground, stretch the spine toward the back of the room, rock to the left elbow, now the right elbow…

Now, we rise to our feet, shoulders back to the wall, chest out, feeling our strength, with our feet firmly pressed into the floor, then we take the left hand, float it to the back of the room, palm out, lift our left foot and allow it to find the hand…

Folding our left fingers over the bottom of our foot, press the bottom of the foot toward the back of the room, be mindful of the stretch in the spine as it elongates parallel to the floor…

Straightening the body, raising the head now to the sky and bending our left leg to the sky and along the back of the room, we gently place the bottom of the left foot upon the crown of the head, notice the stretch in the right hip…

Loosen the jaw, and release the pressure from the shoulders, as the left foot massages the crown of the head, float the right hand to the sky, allow it now to drop into the mouth, and press along the back of the throat, the back of the wrist should glide gently along the roof of the throat…

Guiding the finger of the right hand down to the lungs, holding the left lung, we feel the breath as it moves in and out of the body, now we hold the right lung, note the sponginess of the lung, and allow the body breath…

Listening to our bodies now, as they fight for oxygen, limited by the hand in the throat, the body folds itself onto the mat, staring with both eyes at the paramedic who provides a single rescue breath, now a second, we stare to the ceiling with the left eye, followed by the right…

Expressing gratitude through the eyes and listening to our bodies, aligning our spines, we find our Asana on the mat, sitting bones on the mat, joining the hands together, we say now to our rescuer and to one another…Namaste
